A Refresher on EightBit Builder

📖 Prologue
Back in July, our team launched the EightBit Builder - a way for community members to edit their Bit’s appearance. Notably, this only occurred off-chain, but it was an awesome new way to see what your Bit looks like in different outfits and gear. Time sure flies in crypto, so if you missed the original patch notes back then, check them out here.
With the impending official release of Magic Mirror, we figured it was a great time to get familiar with the EightBit Builder once again to make sure that everyone knows how to utilize one of our favorite tools, since the Builder is the same way you will access Magic Mirror!
🔨 EightBit Builder
We’ve included a little EightBit Builder walkthrough in both picture and video format below, so feel free to check either one out depending on your preference! If you needed a quick refresher on how to use our Builder, however, let’s get to it!
🏗️Blueprint
Head to eightbit.me
Click “Connect Wallet” and Sign In
Click the new “Inventory” link that now pops up in the header
Select a Bit that you want to edit
Click “Edit Bit”
You may be prompted to sign in here if you haven’t already in the second step
Click “Change Appearance”
Change your Bit however you see fit, and click save
When the Magic Mirror pop up shows up, click “Save Only” - this will save it in the traditional Builder manner
And that’s it!
📽️Video Instructions
Of course, if you’d prefer the quick and dirty video version, check out this 45 second clip our team put together back in July!

Huge thank you to our great community member @whel8033 for taking some time out of his day to speak with us!
Let’s start with the basics. Providing as much or as little information as you’d like, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you entered the web3 space.
I am an enjoyooor of markets and have been active in the stock market since leaving law school in the late 00s. I would say investing is a hobby. I became interested in crypto in 2017. It was the old three times rule. I heard about bitcoin three times in a few months. I dove in and rode the 2017 wave up and down. I became bitcoin maxi and only owned bitcoin until 2021. In 2021, I started to dabble with nfts. I just thought it was interesting. At the end of 2021, I pulled a lot out of crypto but I wanted to stay interested so began playing more with nfts. I have successfully lost money but I have enjoyed the ride.
What is the origin/meaning behind your username on Twitter/Discord?
It is my kids initials and my two high school football numbers.
How did you stumble upon EightBit and identify it as a project/community that you wanted to be a part of?
I stumbled on a Eightbit a few days after mint. I followed Frenchie’s wallet and saw him mint. I had been burned on a few projects and liked how the team were established and had done things in Web2. They seemed liked honest guys and I was sick of the projects of anon developers.
What other NFTs do you hold and believe in?
My biggest holding other than Eightbit are Potatoz. I like what the 9gag team is doing. It is an established team that has clearly laid out what they are building. They have executed fairly well. I also bought a ton of onchain birds. It seems like a Moonbirds derivative project but when you dig deeper it is much more. They are trying to change the way nfts are stored on chain. I like projects that are trying something different.
What are two of your favorite movies and why?
Home Alone is my all-time favorite. It is absolutely classic! They just don’t make movies like that anymore. It takes me back to my childhood. Braveheart is my second favorite. Like who doesn’t like Braveheart? Also it has the classic crypto meme. HOLLLLLLDDDDD!
What is your favorite video game from your childhood and why does it stand out to you?
NBA Jam. I loved going to the arcade and playing that game. I was a huge sports junkie as a kid and NBA Jam was the first big sports game.
Who or what is your favorite musical artist/band/musician and why?
Favorite band is tough. I would probably go with Kishi Bashi. I don’t think he is super well known but he is a musical genius.
If you could get one message out to your fellow EightBit holders, what would it be?
We need to get through this bear market. I think that there will be only a handful projects that get to the next cycle. I think Eightbit can if they can find product-market fit. The team has plenty of talent and is in a great position to get to the other side.
