📖 Prologue

Finally, things have been calming down in crypto over the past couple of weeks. With the implosion of FTX and the contagion that followed/follows, understandably it’s been the topic du jour for quite some time. However, like all things in crypto, attention starts to wane, and people begin to turn their eyes towards other things going on. If you managed to protect your bankroll and come out okay from the FTX situation, congratulations, you’ve been through a crypto event that would impress even the most hardened of crypto OGs!

Even though the Thanksgiving holiday may be in the past now for US citizens, that doesn’t mean that we are going to stop being thankful for you, our community. The EightBit team wanted to make sure to take a few moments to let you all know that you are always at the center of everything we do, and we are so appreciative of the love and support you have given us over the years. So, thank you, Bit holders past, present, and future - we appreciate you more than you could ever know!

⬆️Going Forward

With the release of Magic Mirror a few weeks ago, we’ve started to get some questions as to where EightBit is going from here. Rest assured, the team is hard at work ideating and discussing a lot of really cool options for the future of your Bits and our community! It’s not enough to do something just to do something - we want to make it epic.

Similarly, central to everything we do at EightBit is making sure that all of our future decisions keep the “original” Bits as the focus of where we go. Our future plans continue this tradition, so as long as you maintain possession of your Bits, you’ll be eligible for everything we are working on in the future!

This week’s featured community member is our friend Mark! Mark is usually around our Wednesday voice chats, so stop on by and say hi and get to know a little bit more about the man, the myth, the legend - Marrk with two R’s.

Let’s start with the basics. Providing as much or as little information as you’d like, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you entered the web3 space.

It was only within the past year when I really entered the web3 space originally with coins, and then a friend introduced me to NFTs. Engaging in web3 communities helps get me out of my comfort zone as a natural introvert. Otherwise, my career is in the medical field practicing, teaching, and running an educational non-profit.

What is the origin/meaning behind your username on Twitter/Discord?

Very boring answer…Mark was taken so I just added a second r ending up with Marrk.

How did you stumble upon EightBit and identify it as a project/community that you wanted to be a part of?

Eightbit was called in another project I was in, shortly after its mint. After holding through the initial pump, and several months of feeling out different communities, it was clear Eightbit was the best fit for me. The fact that everyone hangs out in the general chat with genuine interest in building a solid community foundation, rather than sharing alpha to make (or more likely lose) a quick buck, is what keeps me enjoying this project & community.

What other NFTs do you hold and believe in?

With so many mistakes in the hold category, I would rather focus on the believe category. Ghouls by DBS, Oddities, Moonbirds, Quirkies fit here. The Heart You collections have great artwork to go along with the messages behind them.

What are two of your favorite movies and why?

My wife and I are captivated by any British crime series or movie, but the next few weeks Elf and Christmas Vacation will be on any chance we get to sit down.

What is your favorite video game from your childhood and why does it stand out to you?

MLB All Star 2000, Madden 99, or any of those editions my five brothers and I could draft a team and play our own season. The drafting process was probably more fun playing the actual games. In school, Super Smash Bros. was the post-exam game of choice, half of our class would gather and play for hours to decompress.

Who or what is your favorite musical artist/band/musician and why?

Kaskade is definitely my go to artist, as I find his music very calming and an escape from daily stress.

If you could get one message out to your fellow EightBit holders, what would it be?

For the holders not active in Discord, just give it a try. The active members are incredibly welcoming to new members as well as being willing to teach while remaining open to learning. For the active members, thank you for the above and providing a great community space.
